Solvent-Mediated Enhancement of Additive-Controlled Crystallization

چکیده
Soluble additives are widely used to control crystallization processes, modifying the morphologies, sizes, polymorphs, and physical properties of product crystals. Here, a simple versatile strategy is shown significantly enhance potency soluble additives, ranging from ions amino acids large dye molecules, enabling them be effective even at low concentrations. Addition small amounts miscible organic co-solvents an aqueous solution can yield enhanced morphological changes order magnitude increase additive incorporation within single crystals─a level that cannot achieved in pure solutions any concentration. The generality this demonstrated by application crystals calcium carbonate, manganese strontium sulfate, with more pronounced effect observed for lower dielectric constants polarities, indicating general underlying mechanism alters water activity. This work increases understanding additive/crystal interactions may see great industrial-scale crystal synthesis.

Additive controlled crystallization
Additives play a decisive role in crystallization processes. We survey the ongoing efforts in the realm of additive-controlled crystallization. Emphasis is placed on the commonly used and most studied types of additives and their influences on prenucleation, stabilization of amorphous precursors, nucleation, crystallization, chiral resolution, nanocrystal assembly, polymorph, and thus morpholog...
متن کاملModelling Solvent-mediated Polymorphic Transitions during Cooling Solution Crystallization
Polymorphism is one of the most important issues raised by the industrial crystallization of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). The dynamic modelling of polymorphic transformations is developed using Femlab, a multiphysics simulation software, which is applied to the resolution of the Populations Balance Equations (PBE) involved. The stable and metastable distinct populations of crystals ...
متن کاملMorphology-Controlled High-Efficiency Small Molecule Organic Solar Cells without Additive Solvent Treatment
This paper focuses on nano-morphology-controlled small-molecule organic solar cells without solvent treatment for high power-conversion efficiencies (PCEs). The maximum high PCE reaches up to 7.22% with a bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) thickness of 320 nm. This high efficiency was obtained by eliminating solvent additives such as 1,8-diiodooctane (DIO) to find an alternative way to control the domai...
متن کاملComplexation-mediated crystallization
Crown ether complexation solubilizes organic and inorganic salts in nonpolar media. Induction of crystallization from such solutions can result in crystallization of the free salt rather than the complex. This affords the opportunity to examine solvent effects on the crystallization of salts and other polar materials, leading to the modification of crystal shape and lattice. This approach, whic...
متن کاملAdditive manufacturing of micrometric crystallization vessels and single crystals
We present an all-additive manufacturing method that is performed at mild conditions, for the formation of organic single crystals at specific locations, without any photolithography prefabrication process. The method is composed of two steps; inkjet printing of a confinement frame, composed of a water soluble electrolyte. Then, an organic semiconductor solution is printed within the confinemen...
